Costs
Professional driving skills are becoming increasingly important in a world that places a high value on transportation for both economic activities as well as for the movement of goods and people. However, getting this ability isn't inexpensive. You have to be aware of a range of costs, including the cost of training and the test. In the Netherlands, obtaining Code 95 may cost as much as 3000 euros. Fortunately, the costs associated with the process of acquiring this certificate are much lower in Poland, where they can be as low as 1500 to 2000 PLN.
For truck drivers who are licensed to drive trucks, the Code 95 certificate is necessary to operate trucks that weigh more than 7.5 tons in Europe. The certificate is valid for 5 years and must be added to the driver's license category C or C+E. It is also possible to add it to a C1 or C1E license which permits the driver to drive lighter trailer combinations.
To obtain a Code 95 certificate, you must undergo a medical exam and take an exam called a psychotest. After completing the course, you will receive a plastic Code 95 certificate that can be added to your driving license. The price of the course includes a medical exam, PKZ service, payment for the plastic Code 95 certificate, and theoretical lessons.
The cost of the Code 95 certificate is similar to the cost of other types of driving classes. Additionally, it is important to remember that this course has to be held at a driving school that is approved by the CBR. Trainers must adhere to strict CBR guidelines. Trainers must immediately inform the CBR if, for example the student is absent.
The student must then go to the Road Traffic Safety Directorate and apply for the renewal of their license. The deadline for replacing the license is six months from the date the course was completed. This requirement is to ensure that a driver is equipped with the necessary level of knowledge and competency for driving a heavy-duty vehicle. The driver must also be aware of how to read the speed limit and kilometer signs on the road.
Options for training
Code 95 on a driver's licence indicates that you have completed the mandatory training to operate trucks or buses professionally. This is a requirement that you must fulfill every five years to renew your work permit. The regular training is 35 hours of classes and can be completed at a driving school or at home (e-learning). The course can be divided over a five-year period. Your employer may pay for the courses.
Code 95 training is divided into two types: short and long courses. The long course is about four weeks and ends with a governmental test. After passing the exam you will be issued a plastic card. The card must be entered to the database of unified European certificates. The school in which you attended classes will submit it to the database. It takes 14 days to process the card.
The cost of the long course is around 2500 PLN, while the exam is 300 PLN. You'll also need to pay a fee for the school to submit your certificate to the unifying European database. Once the card is ready you can pick it up at the school.
As a trainer you must follow certain guidelines to be able provide a course that is Code 95. You must first submit a plan of instruction to the CBR. This plan must be endorsed by the CBR prior to classes begin. You must also follow the strict rules throughout the training.
After you have successfully completed the course you will receive a certificate of periodic training from the CBR. You can then send this to the RDW. The RDW will then allow you to renew your license with the municipality after submitting successfully. If you do not renew your license before the expiration date, you are not allowed to drive trucks or buses professionally for more than 12 hours a week. You will have to take another training course if you wish to drive more than 12 hours per week again.
Exams
In order to obtain the code 95 designation on your licence, you must pass both theoretical and practical exams. These tests can be taken in conjunction with the acquisition of a basic category license at driving school. If you pass the exams, you will be given a certificate and code 95 card. The card is valid for 5 years and must be renewed prior to the expiry date.
Depending on the course of study and the type of training you choose, you can opt for short or long courses to prepare for the code 95 exam. The largest driving licence in Europe is the C-license. In the Netherlands, the requirement is that you pass the initial qualification for professional drivers at the Central Office for Motor Vehicle Driver Testing (Centraal Bureau Rijvaardigheidsbewijzen, or CBR, in Dutch). You must also pass an examination for medical reasons.
For buses and passenger vehicles you also need to have an driving license, either C or D. Bus drivers must pass both the oral and written tests. They also require a code85 that is a professional certification.
